Axon Mining Project

Copper, Cobalt and Nickel

Localização

Axon has invested significant time and geological resources investigating the copper potential of the Vale do Curaçá region of Bahia, which is home to one of Brazil's main cupifera provinces.

The Copper-Cobalt-Nickel Project is located in the north of Bahia, 450 km northwest of Salvador, and 6 km from the city of Pilar, accessible by the main paved roads.

The state of Bahia is well served by infrastructure, roads, electricity, water and the port of Salvador, which ships containers. The province is particularly efficient in issuing environmental permits and approvals.

The project

The Project area covers 1,990 hectares.

The geologists mapped part of the prospect and identified outcropping pegmatites, mafic and ultramafic rocks in a hydrothermal environment.

Sampling results from soil geochemistry work highlighted 4 targets, with anomalies that extend over a large part of the area. Sampling and mapping confirmed the presence of copper, nickel and cobalt.

High-priority targets were identified in the Project area, where Axon carried out systematic mapping and sampling of these targets for the purpose of drilling.

Drilling is planned to begin in the second half of 2022, evaluating 4 sites in the prospect.

The proposed drilling campaign will test this highly anomalous mineralized trend in an under-explored region that currently contains much of Brazil's copper reserves.

Axon is pleased with the opportunities this may present in the future for the production of copper, cobalt and nickel for batteries.

As a regional success story is Caraíba Metais (Ero Brasil) which is the most active mining company in the region, currently has a world class mineral resource base, which currently stands at 42Mt @ 1.51% Cu. Caraíba Metais has been actively mining copper since the 1970s, producing a 38% copper concentrate, where it is transformed into industrial grade copper concentrate.
